JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, March 2018 – Our mother city, Cape Town is currently going through a severe drought, which has forced the city to implement drastic water restrictions to accommodate all Cape Townians.
Mall of the South in conjunction with Gift of the Givers, The Water King and the Johannesburg South community will be hosting a water drive to #helpthyneighbour by providing a collection point at the Mall (on the ground level by entrance 2, near centre management).
Shoppers, tenants, local community organisations and residents will have an opportunity to make a difference by donating sealed 5-litre (L) bottled water, for human consumption, to help alleviate the Cape Town water crisis. Non-sealed water bottles (tapped or borehole water) will also be accepted and will be distributed for animal use only.
The Gift of the Givers will transport the collected water bottles to Cape Town and will be distributed by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to the places in need; namely: schools, orphanages, retirement homes and clinics .
Mall of the South aims to collect a phenomenal amount of 102 tons (102 000 litres = 20 400 5L water bottles). Centre Manager, Hester Smith said, “We are so excited to work closely with our local community and to make a big difference in the south of Johannesburg”.
Water King has offered a discounted rate of the sealed 5L water bottles. For more information, simply contact Mr Raj Naidoo on 011 432 1984, 011 432 5948 or mail to email@example.com. This offer is only valid for the water drive.
