The Famous Idea has successfully managed on-going publicity campaigns for the National Arts Festival, Grahamstown (and their subsidiary projects, including the South African participation at the 55th Venice Biennale); The Standard Bank Jazz Festival, Grahamstown; The Johannesburg International Mozart Festival, The Franschhoek Literary Festival, The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT); the Gordon Institute of Performing and Creative Arts (GIPCA), The Spier Summer Arts Season, The Fugard Theatre, The Standard Bank Gallery, and The Standard Bank Young Artist Awards.
We have also managed individual projects for organisations such as the Nedbank (Championships for the Physically Disabled), the Stonehage Charitable Trust, the Paleontological Scientific Trust (PAST), the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (South African tour), The Gerard Sekoto Foundation, Pina Ya Thari, The Dance Factory, AM Productions, TEATERTeater, The Best Little Company in the Whole Wide World (GT Ferreira), The Theatre Arts Admin Collective and a host of individual artists and pro bono projects.
Director Gilly Hemphill is well-respected by her extensive network. She worked in public relations in various capacities for 24 years, before establishing her own company; and received the ACT Arts and Culture Publicist of the Year award in 2005.
