The Court of Master Sommelier has officially opened bookings for the second time for its programs in South Africa; an educational necessity for the African continent.
In 2019 The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe welcomed 5 Certified Sommeliers and 18 Introductory Sommeliers to its Prestigious Ranks, from the first course held in South Africa.
The established partnership with Chenin Noir South Africa and The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe keeps strengthening the vision of creating Africa’s top achieving Sommeliers. With the exclusive rights for Chenin Noir South Africa to bring The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe to the continent, Chenin Noir South Africa aims to not only provide the course to South African sommeliers to sit these exams but also to the Continent.
Xolani Mancotywa, Creative Director and Certified Sommelier by The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe, believes that The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe is the best path for a Sommeliers to become globally recognised. As an alumnus of The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe, Mancotywa understands the global positioning and opportunity that writing such exams can bring for a Sommelier. “African Sommeliers need to participate in The Court of Master Sommeliers Europe because as a continent we need to become globally viable and qualified so that we become and remain relevant in the global trade and footprint ”
