Novel of the undead, Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse, to be on sale at iconic race in Bryanston The dead will be roaming the street on Saturday, 25 October 2015 and new South African zombie novel, Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse, will be there helping to raise funds. Actually, it will be more running than roaming as the annual Zombie Run kicks off at the PWC Bike Park in Bryanston. The 5km race aims to raise funds for charity and sees ‘zombies’ hunt down ‘the living’ in a game based on similar races made popular abroad. Participants will be given a map to navigate their own route through the course, dodging zombies, completing check points and trying the hardest to stay alive. This year’s charity is FreeMe, a rehabilitation centre for indigenous wildlife based in the north of Johannesburg. Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse will be on sale at the event and a percentage of the sales will be donated to the worthy cause. The book is a coming of age story in a very different South Africa, and chronicles one family’s fight for survival against zombies after the outbreak of a mysterious virus. From the perspective of sixteen year old Kon, they embark on a journey to get to Robben Island, a reputed safe haven. The Zombie run takes place Saturday, 25 October 2014 from 09:00. Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse will be on sale at the Zombie Run and is available from Amazon, Kalahari, Porcupine Press and Loot as an e-book and hard copy. Hard copies will be available in selected bookstores from October 2014. For more information on Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse visit www.saza.co.za.
