{"id":3952,"date":"2025-11-05T17:45:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T15:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mypr.co.za\/mediainvite\/?p=629"},"modified":"2025-11-05T17:45:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T15:45:22","slug":"da-to-protest-corruption-in-eastern-cape-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mypr.co.za\/mail\/da-to-protest-corruption-in-eastern-cape-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"DA to protest corruption in Eastern Cape schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tomorrow, 6 November 2025<\/strong>, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will protest against corruption in Eastern Cape schools to highlight this crisis and demand urgent government intervention.<\/p>\n<p>The protest follows on revelations that more than R1 million in school funds were allegedly looted by the principal and SGB of the Ulwazi High School in Mdantsane.<\/p>\n<p>This is not an isolated incident, and various forms of corruption are allegedly taking place at schools across the province.<\/p>\n<p>Our protest and memorandum handover will take place at the District Office of the Eastern Cape Department of Education in Mdantsane.<\/p>\n<p>It will be led by DA Shadow MEC for Education, <strong><em>Horatio Hendricks MPL<\/em><\/strong>, DA EC Provincial Chairperson, <strong><em>Yusuf Cassim MPL<\/em><\/strong>, DA Shadow MEC for Social Development, <strong><em>Marlene Ewers MPL<\/em><\/strong>, and DA Buffalo City Constituency Leader, <strong><em>Leander Kruger MPL<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the media are invited to attend.
