It is an ideal venue for the best young competitors in the country to display their surfing skills to spectators and the judges. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Judging Criteria<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Judges analyse the following major elements when scoring a ride:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Commitment and Degree of Difficulty<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Innovative and Progressive Manoeuvres<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Combination of Major Manoeuvres<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Variety of Manoeuvres<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Speed, Power and Flow<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The contest runs over the weekend, starting on Friday 21st, with finals on Sunday 23 February, and comprises U12, U14, U16 and U18 Girls and Boys divisions, with U16 recognised as the premier division.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The swell looks like it will be small but contestable when the event commences, but a new swell fills in for the last two days of the event. Winds are forecast to be light and variable, finishing with an offshore south-easterly on Sunday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/craigjarvis.co.za\/images\/CC_KeahlovanGysen_small.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" \/><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Long Beach \u00a9 Keahlo Van Gysen<\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While the competition is still quite far away, and the forecast models could change a little, it is a very positive event forecast for the first Rip Curl GromSearch event of 2025. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rip Curl GromSearch International Finals<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Rip Curl GromSearch Series 2025 comprises four contests. These will take place at Long Beach, Port Alfred, Dairy Beach in Durban and Seal Point in Cape St Francis. Series winners are decided on the best three results out of the four tournaments. The Premier U16 Girls and Boys division winners will win an entry into the Rip Curl GromSearch International Finals, the<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">venue still to be disclosed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last year\u2019s U16 Division winners \u2013 Rory Dace and Louise Lepront \u2013 competed in the Rip Curl GromSearch International Finals held in Bali. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are all premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per all premier events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Rip Curl GromSearch Long Beach contest is a Surfing South Africa tournament supported by Sea Harvest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Complimentary high-resolution images are available for media outlets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">About Surfing South Africa<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/craigjarvis.co.za\/images\/ssa%20signature.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Surfing South Africa is the official National Federation for\u00a0Surfing\u00a0in South Africa.
