As these technologies become more widely available, they are beginning to influence one of South Africa’s most pressing challenges: youth unemployment.

While digital recruitment platforms have existed for years, many young job seekers still struggle to identify suitable opportunities, understand employer expectations and present their skills effectively. Employers, meanwhile, continue to receive large volumes of applications while searching for candidates whose skills align with available roles.

Career development specialists increasingly argue that artificial intelligence has the potential to reduce some of these barriers by providing more personalised guidance throughout the job search process. Rather than replacing career advisers or recruiters, AI tools can help candidates improve CVs, prepare for interviews, identify skills gaps and discover opportunities that better match their experience and career goals.

This shift has also created opportunities for South African technology entrepreneurs to develop locally focused employment solutions. One example is Johannesburg-based startup Kusasa AI, which is building an AI-powered career platform aimed at supporting African job seekers through personalised career guidance, CV analysis and intelligent job matching.

“Our goal is not simply to help people apply for more jobs,” said the company’s founder. “The bigger challenge is helping people understand where they fit in the labour market, identify opportunities they may have overlooked and improve their long-term employability.”

Industry observers note that AI is unlikely to solve unemployment on its own. Broader economic growth, education, skills development and job creation remain essential. However, technology may help make existing employment pathways more accessible, particularly for young people entering the workforce for the first time.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into recruitment and workforce planning worldwide, South Africa’s technology sector is beginning to explore how these tools can be adapted to local employment challenges. Whether these innovations deliver measurable improvements will depend on responsible implementation, collaboration with employers and continued investment in workforce development.

The conversation around AI and employment is only beginning, but it reflects a broader question facing South Africa: how emerging technologies can be used not only to improve productivity, but also to expand access to opportunity for the country’s next generation of workers.

CLICK HERE to submit your press release to MyPR.co.za.

Author: Khule Mahlangu from KUSASA AI (PTY) Ltd on behalf of Ghosty.

Track Your Press Release HERE:

Check Online Visibility

Verify where this release is currently indexed:

Pages: Page 1 Page 2

CLICK HERE to Read the Original Press Release on MyPR

Johannesburg: Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how people search for work, write CVs, prepare for interviews and connect with employers.
