It is designed to serve a primary catchment of Fleurhof, Robertville and Meadowlands, with a secondary market reaching into Florida North, eastern Robertville and Roodepoort North.

The opening marks a construction period that generated over a thousand jobs and lands as more than 9 000 housing units, a mix of RDP houses, social housing and private developments such as Legacy Hill Estate, have already been delivered in the surrounding area over the past decade. Further phases are under way, alongside new schools, green space and a community centre.

Bryce O’Donnell, Managing Director of Abcon Developments, says: “Fleurhof has spent ten years building rooftops without a retail centre to match them. Every household that has moved in here has been driving to Roodepoort or into Soweto for the basics. This mall offers convenience and access for a market that has been underserved for a decade and is finally getting the infrastructure it should have had years ago.”

Beyond the national anchors, the centre has been built to function as a genuine daily-use precinct rather than a destination reserved for the weekend shop. The tenant mix includes tenants such as Shoprite, Pick ‘n Pay ,Edgars ,Dischem, Clicks, banks and a variety of fashion retailers. For a community of this scale, the mall is intended to double as a platform for local entrepreneurs to reach a much larger customer base than a stand-alone storefront could.

O’Donnell says that is central to how Abcon measures a development’s success: “A mall like this only means something if it changes how people move through their day. If a mother can do her shopping, bank and pick up school shoes in one stop instead of three taxi rides, that is the real win. We have also been deliberate about making room for smaller, local businesses inside the centre, not just the big national names, because a healthy precinct needs both.”

Dr. Mike Nkuna, Founder and Chairman of Masingita Group of Companies, says: “Fleurhof Mall is a direct economic corridor between Soweto and the West Rand, giving residents and small businesses on both sides of that historic divide the opportunity to grow together. After 43 years of rural and township development, Fleurhof Mall marks another fulfilled commitment. We are shaping our communities into the urban promise of prosperity.”

For Abcon, Fleurhof Mall adds to a broader portfolio of developments across Gauteng, including Sandton Gate Central in Johannesburg, Loftus Park in Pretoria, Leaping Frog Retail Centre in Fourways and Hertford Office Park in Midrand, spanning retail, office and large-scale mixed-use precincts.

For Masingita, Fleurhof Mall will add to the 230 000 m² of the exciting retail portfolio across Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga – including Masingita Mall, Makhado Crossing, Boitumelo Junction, Mphephu Plaza, Zebediela Plaza and Stimela Crossing among others.

Fleurhof Mall is now open to the public, with 53 stores already trading and further tenants completing their fit-outs and opening their doors over the coming weeks.

CLICK HERE to submit your press release to MyPR.co.za.

Author: Petra Peacock from Chimeracomms on behalf of Abcon.

Track Your Press Release HERE:

Check Online Visibility

Verify where this release is currently indexed:

Pages: Page 1 Page 2

CLICK HERE to Read the Original Press Release on MyPR

Fleurhof Mall, the 19 561 m² retail centre developed jointly by Abcon Developments and Masingita Property Investment Holdings (Masingita) , has officially opened its doors, giving one of Johannesburg’s largest integrated housing developments its first major shopping and services destination.
