Art with purpose Spring in Colour’s partnership with Kunye Art Foundation also gives the festival a purpose beyond the celebration of art.

The non-profit organisation works to uplift and empower artists from South Africa’s diverse cultural landscape. Its community includes artists with disabilities, survivors of gender-based violence, disadvantaged individuals, single mothers, emerging talent and professional artists who provide mentorship.

Kunye provides artists with art supplies, mentorship and opportunities to exhibit and sell their work to local and international buyers, helping them develop their skills and work towards greater financial independence. Its artist community also provides a space for support, encouragement and collaboration.

“We believe in the power of art to transform lives,” says Ingrid Wallach, Managing Director and Founder of Kunye Art Foundation. “By providing a platform for diverse voices and mentoring young talent, we are not only nurturing artistic potential but also creating pathways to economic empowerment and personal healing.”

For Blue Route Mall, the partnership creates an opportunity to connect local artists with new audiences while giving shoppers an accessible way to experience and support local creativity.
