CareKahle runs branches in Alexandra, Orange Farm, Dobsonville and Daveyton, every one of them in Gauteng. Hardly anyone sits in that room solely for a permit medical or a report. Since the same doctors<\/a> who run the group\u2019s general consultations also carry out these assessments, a blood pressure reading taken for a form becomes something talked through rather than merely recorded. A person who comes into a clinic<\/a> for a medical report and happens to mention a cough, a wound that will not heal or a prescription that ran dry a fortnight ago can have it seen to right there, instead of leaving with a referral and a fresh appointment date.<\/p>\n

The broader menu of services bears this out. Plenty of working households in South Africa are caught between two choices that suit neither. State facilities are cheap but tend to involve a lengthy wait that clashes with a work shift. Private general practice moves faster yet costs more than a weekly wage can comfortably stretch to, especially once medicine has to be purchased separately afterwards.
