When reporting on a Fire use the following checklist to make sure that you have all the facts:
- Date, Place
- Details, injuries
- Type and location of structure
- Official cause
- When and where started and how spread
- When brought under control
- Victims? How killed or injured
- Extent of property loss, cost of damage, insured or not
- Comment on investigation, any unusual circumstances
- Where dead or injured have been taken and extent of injuries
- Rescue attempts
- Comments from neighbours or eyewitnesses
- Number of fire engines and fire-fighters
- Check these sources: Fire Chief, Police, Hospital, Mortuary and/or Welfare Agencies
