Tomorrow, 6 November 2025, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will protest against corruption in Eastern Cape schools to highlight this crisis and demand urgent government intervention.
The protest follows on revelations that more than R1 million in school funds were allegedly looted by the principal and SGB of the Ulwazi High School in Mdantsane.
This is not an isolated incident, and various forms of corruption are allegedly taking place at schools across the province.
Our protest and memorandum handover will take place at the District Office of the Eastern Cape Department of Education in Mdantsane.
It will be led by DA Shadow MEC for Education, Horatio Hendricks MPL, DA EC Provincial Chairperson, Yusuf Cassim MPL, DA Shadow MEC for Social Development, Marlene Ewers MPL, and DA Buffalo City Constituency Leader, Leander Kruger MPL.
Members of the media are invited to attend. There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
