South African performing artist and songwriter Nompendulo Mbhele, popularly known as Pretty Masompisi, continues her musical journey with the release of her highly anticipated second studio single, ‘Ekhaya’.
Pretty Masompisi began honing her musical craft at an early age and gained widespread recognition through TikTok, where her singing videos captivated audiences and helped her establish a dedicated fanbase. Her growing online presence opened doors for collaborations with various artists, leading to an exciting breakthrough in the music industry.
In August 2024, she released her debut single, “Manxebanxeba”, featuring Danger Flex and Mlungisi. The song performed exceptionally well across major streaming platforms, solidifying her place in the industry. That same year, she was featured on “Ngiyaqala Ukujola”, a collaboration with Olefied Khetha and Danger Flex, as well as “Jehova Ngikhumbile Nani”, alongside DeeJay Zaca and Pdot.
Now, the multi-talented artist returns with her second studio single, ‘Ekhaya’, featuring Duncan and Olefied Khetha. The title, ‘Ekhaya,’ is inspired by the traditional Zulu word for ‘home,’ reflecting a deep sense of longing and nostalgia for one’s roots. The song delves into themes of homesickness and the realities of life in rural areas, resonating deeply with listeners.
‘Ekhaya’ is a fusion of traditional music, Afro Pop, and Hip Hop, creating a distinctive sound that sets Pretty Masompisi apart in the industry. With its rich instrumentation and soulful melodies, the track caters to a broad audience and promises to be a hit. Pretty Masompisi continues to prove her consistency and versatility as an artist. ‘Ekhaya’ is officially dropping on Friday, 07 February 2025, with an official music video rumored to be released soon.
