Gqeberha – A patch left after home carpet spot cleaning is not always the original stain. Dirt-attracting residue or colour damage can leave the owner facing a different problem, and True Clean is encouraging residents to explain what they have already applied before arranging a clean.
The distinction is supported by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification’s consumer guidance. Its sections on home spotters describe residues that attract soil and products that can cause colour change. Its bleach guidance explains that lost colour requires repair, such as dyeing or patching, rather than ordinary cleaning.
For a household, the result can be confusing. A treated area may become dark again as dirt collects on residue. Another patch may look lighter because colour has been lost. Those appearances need assessing; a photograph alone does not reliably identify the cause.
Repeating the same treatment or scrubbing harder does not establish which problem is present. Missing dye cannot be restored by removing more dirt. Equally, a returning dark patch is not enough on its own to prove permanent damage.
True Clean asks customers arranging carpet cleaning in Gqeberha or Port Elizabeth to describe the mark, its age and its known cause. The products already used are another important part of that history.
Keeping the bottle or taking a photograph of its label can make the conversation more useful. Customers should mention repeated applications and whether the appearance changed afterwards, rather than assuming that an attempted home clean is irrelevant to the booking.
The carpet’s fibre, dyes and construction affect what treatment is suitable. Residents should follow the carpet manufacturer’s care instructions and the relevant product label, and avoid assuming that a method suitable for one carpet will suit another.
The purpose is not to suggest that every shop-bought spotter causes damage. It is to separate ordinary soiling from residue and actual colour change before promising what cleaning can achieve.
That assessment can prevent the customer paying for a repeat clean with the expectation that it will reverse a problem requiring a different kind of repair. Where work falls outside ordinary cleaning, the next step needs explaining before a booking is made.
