10X Investments is proud to be lead sponsor of South Africa’s premier media event, The Gathering: Media Edition, which will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on August 15.
Daily Maverick’s annual event is dedicated to supporting a strong, independent media. It brings together leaders from politics, civil society, the business world and media for a day of engagement, networking, debate and thought leadership focused on the importance of staying vigilant in a world where truth is constantly under attack.
Emma Heap, 10X Investments Head of Growth, says the disruptive asset manager’s sponsorship of The Gathering is a natural extension of the company’s continuing partnership with Daily Maverick. Previous collaborations and events, most particularly the Real Money Fight 1 and 2, have focused on exposing the truth about the retirement savings industry, which is set up to serve its own interests rather than those of its customers, most of whom are entrusting it with their life’s savings.
Heap notes that 10X Investments and the Daily Maverick hold dear many of the same values, such as truth, transparency and honesty.
“Sponsoring The Gathering: Media Edition extends and expands on our dedication to honesty and transparency as we concentrate our efforts around the central theme of defending the truth,” she says.
The event will highlight the potential social consequences of the challenges in the media landscape. Daily Maverick says the aim of The Gathering: Media Edition is to highlight the importance of truth and ethics in the media, the business world and in politics. It hopes to raise awareness about the importance of freedom of speech and truth and authenticity across all communications platforms.
Steven Nathan, 10X Investments chief executive officer, will join other business and political leaders at this year’s event. Other speakers who have already confirmed their participation include Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Phumzile van Damme, Chris Maroleng, Ferial Haffajee, Rana Ayyub, John Vlismas, Stephen Grootes, MarianneThamm, and many others.
