You are here: Home / Entertainment / 7 Reasons Why Crocworld Is the Place to Be These Holidays!

(MyPR.co.za) September 24, 2025 By //  by Guest PR Filed Under: Entertainment Edit This Article

The holidays are approaching, which means it’s time to plan some fun, outdoor activities for the family! Set within a beautiful coastal forest and home to an impressive variety of wildlife, Crocworld Conservation Centre in Scottburgh is the perfect setting for some holiday fun. This iconic KZN South Coast destination has great activities and experiences to ensure visitors of all ages enjoy an unforgettable day out in nature.

“Crocworld is such a special place for families to reconnect with nature and learn more about South Africa’s incredible wildlife,” said Susan Badat, Manager of Crocworld Conservation Centre. “We’ve created a holiday programme filled with adventure, education, and fun, so whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular guest, there’s always something new to enjoy.”

1. Meet the Colourful Characters

Crocworld is home to some truly legendary residents! Visitors can marvel at Henry, the world’s oldest-known Nile crocodile in captivity at 124 years, along with his ancient friend of 90-plus years, Colgate. The centre is also home to Sekhuru, the African Fish Eagle, who is always a firm favourite with guests. Daily crocodile feedings and talks give visitors the chance to learn more about these magnificent reptiles.

2. Check Out the New Barnyard Arrivals

Spring means new life, and Crocworld is celebrating the arrival of seven baby goats and a number of baby rabbits who have already become a hit in the Barnyard. Alongside these cuties, children can enjoy meeting a variety of farmyard friends, including pigs, emus, rabbits, chickens, and sheep. Visitors can even purchase animal feed from the Curio Shop to enjoy hands-on interactions.

3. Exciting Educational Encounters

With the new Ranger Guide booklet available at the Curio Shop, collated by WildED Africa, children can enjoy educational fun while learning about local wildlife and conservation. This booklet provides little ones with an immersive experience of Crocworld, making this the perfect holiday outing for curious young minds.

4. Thrills at Jikaleza Outdoor Adventures

Adventurous kids aged seven and up can take to the skies with Jikaleza Outdoor Adventures. From 2pm to 3pm, children can experience exciting aerial ziplining and obstacle courses high in the treetops, all located at the same site as Crocworld. To book, email Jikalezatrading@gmail.com or call 068 255 7200.

5. Delicious Dining at Fish Eagle Café

The Fish Eagle Café, perched on its wraparound deck at Crocworld overlooking the ocean, is the ideal spot to relax after a morning of adventure. Visitors can enjoy everything from hearty breakfasts and gourmet burgers to indulgent waffles and milkshakes. The café has also added mouth-watering dishes such as eggs Benedict, spare ribs, rump salad, and loaded chips. Keep an eye out for dolphins and whales while dining!

6. Birdwatcher’s Paradise

Set within lush coastal forest, Crocworld is home to over 200 indigenous bird species and a stunning aviary and Raptor Wing home to Booted Eagles, Eurasian Eagle Owls, Harris Hawks, and Jackal Buzzards. Whether strolling the forest trails or relaxing with panoramic sea views, visitors are immersed in the beauty and biodiversity of the KZN South Coast.

7. Daily Animal Interactions and Talks

No visit to Crocworld is complete without the engaging daily animal interactions. From reptile demonstrations to bird encounters, visitors can get up close to fascinating creatures while learning about the importance of conservation. The team of experts ensures these talks are both fun and educational.
