The 7th CTEX-Career and Training Expo (CTEX) took place at the Look-Out, V&A Waterfront from 26 -27 July 2017.
The CTEX Career Expo is the largest of its kind in the Western Cape. Thousands of Learners and Job seekers descended on the Expo which were held over two days.
Delivering the Keynote address at the CTEX Expo, Mayco member for Corporate Services at the City of Cape Town, Raelene Arendse thanked the Organizers of CTEX for placing Education and Youth Development high on the agenda.
Delivering her address at the CTEX Career Expo she said ” When we Become Educated, we not only equip ourselves with the most powerful tool in the world, but we empower our children and our communities to continue our legacy.” She added that ” We believe that the youth deserve to be provided with a chance to study and then gain valuable work experience.”
Councillor Arendse used the CTEX Career Expo platform to announce that the City of Cape Town aims to create 291 External Bursary Opportunities during the 2017/2018 Financial Year. In addition, 412 apprenticeships and learner-ships will be conducted over the next two financial years.
“These are just a few examples of the opportunities this City provides for those who were previously disadvantaged to overcome the limitations of the past.” she added.
