The annual CANSA Shavathon will taking place at the Eastgate Shopping Centre on Saturday, 2 March, from 10am – 6pm in the Mr Price Court
It’s the 10th Shavathon this year where participants are encouraged to bring 10 family members, friends or colleagues along to shave or spray in solidarity with cancer survivors. Present at the Eastgate Shopping Centre Shavathon will be local celebrity and television presenter, Rozanne Bishop from DSTV’s Dagbreek TV (Breakfast show) .
Adults can shave or spray their head for a donation of R50 (or more) and children, under 12 years old, for R25. Payment can be made in cash donations at the venue. Alternatively, an online donation can be made in advance where a confirmation e-mail will be used as proof of payment.
After registration people will be asked to move to the area where their head will be shaved or sprayed. People can choose the length at which their hair can be shaved and the colours to be sprayed. Please take note that CANSA Shavathon will no longer do a ‘clean shave’ due to risk factors – the lowest number one can shave is a number 1.
Volunteers are welcome to assist with errands such as spraying, shaving and public registrations. For ponytail donations, CANSA Shavathon volunteers will be equipped to accept and package hair donations. Hair to be donated must be 22cm or longer, clean, dry and free of permanent colour, bleach or other chemical treatments.
