The 1st ever national indigenous traditional gospel music awards since the industries popularity and successful recordings in the early 80’s by clap n tap gospel choirs such as barorisi ba morena, jerusalema encha, sefofane, majalefa and many more. Clap n tap gospel music proved to be South Africa’s most popular, supported and most selling music from the early 80’s into the early 20’s with major record labels making millions in profits out of these industries record sales in South Africa and its neighboring countries, such successes where only recorded but never awarded.

Mmino wa clap n tap gospel music industry has been kept alive, natured and changing phase for generations with the sign of only growth and nothing else by its supporters. With over 2000 national recording choirs and over 6 million direct and indirect supporters, this industry has been denied a medium platform to grow international, our media still has less pride in this indigenous and traditional gospel music and never gave it enough publicity, the government in so many ways used the industry choirs to mobilize campaigns without any benefits to the industry. Now we are taking over and doing it ourselves, after all we love and own this culture!
