Gauteng – Nubia Soul the singer/writer/poet has been interviewed by CNN news on the 10th of July 2013 after she has releases her debut album and utilizing digital platforms by distributing and engaging with fans and potential fans. The interview shoot took place in Eastrand Leondale recording studio.
The interview was based on the new social network that Samsung will launch during the first quarter of 2014.
Nubia Soul released her debut album called “Love Chronicles” on the 4th of May 2013. She then mainly focused on expanding her digital footprint by using major digital music distributors such as iTunes, Amazon, Nokia Music store (just to name a few) to sell her album. She also increased her digital presence by using popular social networking sites such as Facebook, twitter, Google Plus in conjunction with her website, YouTube, Blogs, digital Newsletters, Electronic Press-Kit and Sound Cloud. Samsung through CNN were looking for examples of artists who took advantage of digital platforms to enhance and further their musical careers, because Samsung will be launching a new social network that will be integrated with existing Samsung apps in various devices and also integrate it with Amazon (http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/13/3082495/samsung-facebook-social-network). The interview was to illustrate the usefulness of digital platforms in music industry.
During the interview Nubia Soul explained how she utilized digital platforms and how it made things easy for her especially as a start-up artist in the South African music industry and also gave a live demonstration of her native mobile App, which is available on Google Play and App Store for download.
