The Warrior Race battlegrounds of Meerendal are on the verge of seeing history in the making when Hannes Brits competes in Warrior7 on 22 October 2016 to become the first amputee in Warrior Race history to take on the Black Ops category.
No stranger to the OCR world, Hannes has taken part in seven Warrior Races in less than two years, including two Rookie events, 3 Commando events and two Commando Elite events. He has covered over 80km and 140 obstacles in total, all while on crutches without his left leg.
Hailing from Germiston in Johannesburg, Hannes took part in his first Warrior Race in 2015 at the encouragement of his friends and has been hooked on achieving the impossible ever since then. Hannes believes that one can never be too old to pursue your dreams and hopes to one day become a motivational speaker. “I have a real passion for helping people. I would love to speak to the children in schools and orphanages to inspire them for their future success.”
Hannes is a true sporting representative for the physically disabled community and further dreams of encouraging more amputee athletes to get into OCR so that they can also push their limits and encourage those around them.
Besides Warrior history beckoning and a personal achievement for Hannes, this will be his first ever visit to the Mother City, as well as travelling in an aeroplane but he does need some help in getting there.

I am living proof that it is possible and I wish to inspire others to join me and love every moment of the life and blessing that they have been given.
