Simply Financial Services (Simply)
Cape Town based Simply Financial Services (Simply) is a registered financial services provider that designs and sells great value, ‘no touch’ life insurance products in South Africa. The business was founded in 2016 by three South Africans: technology entrepreneur Anthony Miller and actuaries Simon Nicholson and Shaun Dippnall, and comprises a lean and agile team of 45, based predominantly in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Simply products include Group Cover (from R299 p/m), Domestic Cover (from R89 p/m) and Family Cover (from R89 p/m). In the latter, individuals buy cover for themselves; in the first 2, employers buy cover for their staff. All the products are flexible and come standard with life, disability and funeral cover. They are sold directly or by brokers using Simply’s Digital Broker Platform.
Simply products are underwritten by Old Mutual Alternative Risk Transfer Ltd (OMART), a member of the Old Mutual Group.
In addition to its business to consumer / business (B2C / B2B) and intermediated (Broker Platform) models, Simply also does white label partnerships with large brands. Simply’s first partnership – with a large SA life insurer – is successfully up and running, and the second – with a large SA bank – is due to go live shortly. Various other local and international white label opportunities are under discussion.
Simply is technology and data led. Exemplifying this is the company’s data integration with Payspace, one of SA’s leading cloud-based payroll system providers, which makes it super easy for Payspace users to buy cover for their staff. Simply is also in the process of integrating with credit bureau Experian to improve both user experience and risk management.
