Theatre Production: Three Sisters.
This contemporary rework of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters places the focus on the regrets, choices and ambitions of the three sisters. Set in a world of economic uncertainty the sisters battle and support each other. It’s a classic family crisis in a mad modern world.
Hosted by, and in collaboration with, the POPArt Production Company, www.popartcentre.co.za, this group of independent theatre makers are eager to present their interpretation of three strong, complex female characters lead by Karina Lemmer.
The production originated as an academic study. Elements such as code-switching in Sestwana, Sesotho and Afrikaans is incorporated and the acting is aimed at truly conveying language as action to ensure a relatable experience for audiences and simultaneously to reflect the South African context.
