The southern hemisphere’s largest and busiest conferencing facility, the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg have scooped two prestigious awards at the 2016 Best of Ekurhuleni Reader’s Choice Awards Ceremony.
Based on the votes from 350 000 homes in the Ekurhuleni municipality, Birchwood Hotel won two awards in the Living in Ekurhuleni category; namely the Must-Hire Venue for Private Functions award, awarded to a local business catering to Ekurhuleni residents’ every day entertainment and service needs, and the Best Venue Hire award.
Founder and director of Birchwood Hotel, Kevin Clarence is delighted by this achievement. He believes that the key to catering to the modern business traveller is through listening to their needs and tailoring the hotel’s product accordingly.
“In order to improve our offering towards the new business traveller, we have invested R50-million over the past two years,” says Clarence.
The initiative held annually by Caxton, one of the largest publishers in South Africa, is aimed at inspiring the residents of Ekurhuleni and celebrate the growth and prosperity of local businesses, people and organisations.
As the busiest conferencing facility in the southern hemisphere, Birchwood Hotel aims to keep Ekurhuleni on the business tourism map by continuing to offer the best value for money for corporate events, in over 60 venues on 52 hectares of beautiful gardens.
