Join Nederburg for an experience guaranteed to impress foodies and wine enthusiasts at this year’s Ommiberg Round the Rock Festival on Saturday, March 7, from 10:00 until 18:00.
There will be live music including 5th Avenue, Mark Haze and Lize Mynhardt, as well as the opportunity to stomp newly harvested grapes from what is turning into a really great harvest, taste the freshly pressed must, and sample 2015 vintage wines in the making.
A special Heritage experience is on offer at R300 a head (not included in Ommiberg ticket price) for those wanting to explore Nederburg’s illustrious history. It includes a glass of refreshing Nederburg bubbly on arrival at 10:00, followed by a vineyard and cellar tour, and then a visit to Nederburg’s Old Cellar Museum. The Red Table restaurant will then serve a sumptuous lunch and at various points along the way to lunch, guests will get to taste the Nederburg Heritage Heroes range of five wines, each named in honour of a personality who has played a role in shaping the history of Nederburg. This informative and delicious experience is available to the first 30 who book and pre-pay.
Boasting an array of culinary delights prepared by new chef, Edmore Ruzoza, the a la carte menu at The Red Table will tantalise taste buds from 11:00 to 17:00. In addition, cheese and cured meat platters, packed with flavour, will be available between 10:00 to 18:00.
Outdoor games including boules, croquet and Jenga will also be on offer.
Children will be catered for in terms of food, drinks and entertainment. A jumping castle, a balloon twister and face painting will ensure they are kept entertained for hours.
Nederburg’s weekly scheduled cellar tour will be on offer at 11:00 for an additional R60 (not included in Ommiberg ticket). This tour also includes a tasting of the limited edition Heritage Heroes range. No pre-booking is necessary.
Nederburg wines by the glass or bottle will be on sale and a special 10% discount will be offered on wines bought at the Visitors’ Centre to take home.
Ommiberg Round the Rock tickets are available on Webtickets (www.webtickets.co.za) for R100 a head, or from participating farms for R120. Children under 18 enter free of charge.
