Jose Cuervo Fans Say “No!” to Mundane Parties
Cape Town – 19th September, 2014 – Cape Town literally ‘rocked’ last night with special guests and fans attending a mini rock music festival at the Bree Street Studios in celebration of the new #Cuervolución campaign from Jose Cuervo, the world’s best-selling tequila.
Fans responded to the call to say “no” to the boring and mundane and say “yes” by making the switch to Jose Cuervo.
“Our new movement, which is a global phenomenon, is all about saying no to boring, no to mundane drinking experiences, and no to accepting the ordinary,” explains Schalk van Wyk, Marketing Manager, at Edward Snell, the local distributor of the brand. It’s about resisting boring and making the switch.
He explains: If you look back at parties, at your best nights out, things were routine and suddenly something changed. There was always a trigger. A catalyst. The moment when things flipped. Jose Cuervo has always been the instigator to that moment and now that moment has a name. It’s the #Cuervolución. And it all starts with your first shot of Jose Cuervo.
“Since Cuervolución going forward will be the foundation to a variety of Jose Cuervo experiences and events around the country we thought what better way to experience the brand than in a mock-festival setting to launch the movement,” says van Wyk.
Guests explored areas one would expect to find at a music festival and at this particular event all the areas (camping, chill area, food court etc.) were connected to a specific Jose Cuervo bar, with each allowing guests to experience the brand in a different way. The focus of the night was Gold and Silver, each with their own unique characteristics and personality. Jose Cuervo Gold is great as a shooter and Jose Cuervo Silver is perfect straight up, in a margarita or used in cocktails.
Cape Town DJ The Robfather, treated guests in true ‘Ayatollah of Rock ‘n Rolla’ style and turned the night upside-down with his powerful Rock n Roll anthems spanning decades with his sets combining the best of classic power ballads. Taxi Violence performed a fiery live show at the event and presented their sticky brand of rock n roll known as ‘music for the waist down’. They are celebrated for their fierce independence, and the epitome of rock ‘n roll sound. The band has recently released their latest single, Beaten by The Gun available for download free to celebrate 10 years of making music together.
The photo booth offered guests the chance to put their game face on and don their Luchador mask (the symbol of the movement) pledging their allegiance to the Cuervolución.
1,000’s have already joined the #Cuervolución prior to the event via the digital campaign (which kicked off earlier this month) by changing their FaceBook profile pictures via the Jose Cuervo Facebook tab to one where they are posing wearing the Luchador mask then uploading and sharing their photos.
Jose Cuervo Tequila – Very Useful Facts!
Useful facts about Jose Cuervo and tequila, Mexico’s national drink include:
Jose Cuervo was officially founded in 1812 (so they know what they are talking about when it comes to good tequila)
The Jose Cuervo distillery, La Rojeña is still run by the direct descendants of Jose Antonio de Cuervo, the creator of tequila.
Jose Cuervo has been making tequila for over 250 years with the same experience, handcraftsmanship and recipes that have been handed down generation through generation. Carefully choosing the best agaves, meticulous fermentation and distillation and final processing resulting in the world’s finest tequila.
In order for a spirit to be called tequila, it must come from the blue agave plant, a species found only in Jalisco and four nearby regions in central Mexico.
All Jose Cuervo tequila continues to be made in the town of Tequila in the state of Jalisco in Mexico.
The leaves of the blue agave plant are chopped off and the core is cooked and crushed to create juice, which is fermented and distilled to make tequila. The resulting unaged, clear tequila is then diluted with water to bring the alcohol content down to around 40% (so you can drink more!)
‘Repasado’ means ‘rested’. Tequila must be ‘rested’ in wood barrels for a minimum of two months. (a requirement of the Mexican government). The ‘resting’ mellows and refines the tequila, producing a combination of superb smoothness and great taste. (Especially Jose Cuervo)
Silver tequila is naturally clear after fermentation and distillation are complete. Silver tequilas (also known as ‘blanco’ if you want to be Mexican) are clear and unaged and do not spend any time in oak barrels.
Gold tequila – after the fermentation and distillation processes, tequila can then be aged in oak barrels, giving it a golden hue.
The Cuervolución has begun. Are you in? Then… Saludos! (cheers)
