Enthusiasts of all things French and African should definitely add the Afri-French market to their Bastille weekend celebrations. If you’re looking for Gallic glamour with Afrocentric inspiration, this is definitely the place to be from Friday, 14 July to Sunday, 16 July.

Conveniently located at the Simondium’s Country Lodge on the R45 between Paarl and Franschhoek on the R44, this elegant market boasts a wide selection of products combining French sophistication with an authentic African feel. Whether you prefer Bon Jour to Sawubona, the market will inspire and delight.

This year, the market will be welcoming a host of new exhibitors to make it even more exciting for visitors. More than forty exhibitors will astonish with the amazingly crafted products ranging from incredible Moroccan arts to exquisite linen from Trousseau, fabulous fashion from Sway clothing, boutique woven ribbons and paper products from Ebony & Ivory as well as gorgeous jewellery and accessories from Kosbaar, bespoke socks from Feat. sock company, Koka Lazer artistry and vintage furniture and décor from Huis Paleis.

Pamper yourself with natural soaps, bath and shower products from Earth Mamma in Franschhoek. If you’re shopping for the little ones, do not miss out on Joey’s range of botanical kiddie clothing. A special kids’ play area will entertain the young ones, while parents browse the market.

The deli will be jam-packed with hand-made goodies, barista-styled coffees and incredible honey products from Darling to tempt the taste buds. Indulge in sweet temptations such as irresistible fudges and brownies as well as traditional delicacies such as toffees and delicious biltong.

If you want to take a break during shopping, visit the stunning pop-up bar with great local wines, craft beers and artisanal gins. Or enjoy a French brioche filled with Camembert with a drizzle dip or celebrity chef Mynhardt Joubert’s authentic French onion soup.

The Afri-French market will be open from 09h30 – 16h00 on Friday and Saturday, but closes at 15h00 on Sunday. Ample, secure parking is available. Entrance cost R30 per adult, while kids under 18 can enter for free.
