Cloud9 Boutique Hotel & Spa welcomes guest after renovations & new exciting offerings

Cloud 9, a luxury boutique hotel & spa, now with 55 rooms, situated in the heart of Cape Town’s trendy suburb Tamboerskloof, has recently reopened its doors after an extensive renovation and expansion that took 6 months to complete.

Located at the foot of Table Mountain, Cloud 9 Boutique Hotel blends away in heritage and luxury with a touch of modern influence. Cloud 9 is surrounded by cocktail bars, eateries and entertainment.

The ambitious renovation involved, among other things the addition of 8 additional guest rooms with balconies, also adding balconies to several of the existing rooms. There is also a heated pool and expanded sun deck for use of guests.

The new rooftop restaurant entitled Mountain Club, is a double level restaurant with an upper deck which boasts a plunge pool for visitors and a bar with maximum ventilation offering spectacular 360-degree view of the city and Table Mountain.

A venue ideal for cocktail functions, corporate events, social gatherings and simply just relaxing at the end of a long working day. The plunge pool, perfect for a hot, summer afternoon is open to all outside guests with a minimum spend of only R200 per person.

Other developments include the recently opened Deluxe Spa and Hair, offering head to toe treatments by highly qualified therapists and hair stylists using the best and finest hair and skin brands sourced globally and locally including Moroccanoil, Redken, GHD, Dr Grandel, Nimue and Skin Affair among others.

Etienne Hanekom of Etienne Hanekom Designs, who is the designer for the renovations for the spa, reception area and bar and restaurant at Cloud 9 Boutique Hotel, explains that the inspiration for the bespoke look and feel was Cape Town and its surrounding nature.

He says “for the reception area, we wanted to create a more local look & feel with vibrant colours from Bo-Kaap and illustrated scenes of the Atlantic seaboard by local artist Lucie de Moyencourt”. Hanekom describes the décor as “slightly eclectic with the use of colour accents from pinks & greens. We tried to soften the spaces with plants that can breathe fresh air into the spaces.”

The hotel offers a carefully curated, artistic experience that showcases distinctive art throughout the foyer and 55 guest rooms. The main attraction of this luxe hotel is that it offers visitors a quintessentially South African experience by infusing art, history and culture.

Gerd Weideman, of Gerd Weideman Architects, is the lead architect, whose footprint includes residential renovations in the Cape Town city bowl, developments along the Atlantic seaboard and hospitality projects in Europe.

The Cloud9 hotel connects five beautiful heritage properties via a central reception and secluded courtyard. Facilities include a spa with three treatment rooms, an elevator, 24-hour reception, security and guest parking. Guests can relax on the sun deck and enjoy a splash in the plunge pools while enjoying a cocktail on a warm summers day.
