(MyPR.co.za) July 29, 2026 By //  by Guest PR Filed Under: Politics Edit This Article

The Durban North Community Police Forum (CPF) has announced its newly elected Interim Executive Committee (Exco), following an elections meeting held on the evening of Thursday, 16 July 2026 at Northlands Primary School (NPS).

The election was overseen by representatives of the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSPS), Department of Community Safety, Durban North Police Service (SAPS), the Ethekwini District Police Board and the KZN Provincial Police Board, to ensure the electoral process was conducted smoothly and fairly.

The new Interim Exco is chaired by Tony Willmans, supported by Roberto Cameron as Deputy Chairman, Robyn Botha as Secretary, Jason Willis as Deputy Secretary, Steve Pender as Treasurer and Sheetal Cross as Public Relations Officer (PRO). They are joined on the committee by additional members Aslam Randeree, Darren Clinton, Ryan Lister-James and Nicholas Wilkinson.

Congratulating the incoming committee, Sindi Monaheng, Assistant Director at the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSPS) said, “As you begin your term, remember that the strength of a CPF lies in partnership, with the South African Police Service (SAPS), with Neighbourhood Watches, sub-forums and with the broader community. Let us remember that CPF stands for Community Police Forum. The ‘C’ is Community and the ‘P’ is Police. It is only when the Community and the Police work together in partnership, that we can truly fulfil the mandate of a CPF”.

She added a call to action for the new committee, “Don’t be a CPF that isn’t actively conducting programmes that address the crime your community is facing.” This sentiment was also echoed by Mr Aidan David, Chairperson of the eThekwini District Police Board and Treasurer of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Police Board, who also congratulated the new team.

“I would like to wish the newly elected interim Community Police Forum (CPF) of Durban North Police Station, everything of the best towards the run-up of the main elective conference. I am sure that all new role-players will uphold their constitutional mandate and endeavour to do their best in making sure that the community of the Durban North policing precinct will be kept safe. Take care and be safe always,” he said.

Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Sujit Rohith, Acting Station Commander, Durban North Police Station (SAPS) expressed his well wishes to the new committee.

He said, “The trust people placed in the Interim Exco shows. May your term bring progress, unity and results for everyone.”

Speaking on behalf of the incoming committee, the Interim Exco thanked all who attended and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with SAPS, all law enforcement, Neighbourhood Watch structures and the broader community, to address the crime challenges facing the Durban North policing precinct, in the lead-up to the forum’s main elective conference.

“As the newly elected chair of Durban North CPF Exco, extending to Umhlanga and surrounding areas that form part of Durban North Police precinct, I would like to extend our appreciation to all that took the time to support us, in electing the new structure. We look forward to working with, and supporting all law enforcement more extensively, together with our neighbour structures, businesses and communities, as well as forming open and clear understanding of our roll as the CPF. Together with SAPS and other stakeholders that form important structures, we will assist our communities to be safer and more secure going forward,” said Tony Willmans, Interim Exco Chairman.
