Light winds, blue skies and perfect three to four-foot waves greeted surfers at Victoria Bay for the first day of the Rip Curl GromSearch surfing event.
The day’s first heat was the U16 Boys Division, and the first heat winner of the day was Jack Erlank, with Nicholas Brown in second place.
Then it was straight into the U14 Boys division, as the waves improved and picked up in size. Kai Stubbs, David Moussouris, Loghann Tilsley, Adam Faclier, Nathan Tayler and Ashbjorn Gwenin were all heat winners in this highly competitive division.

When the U18 Boys took to the water, the waves were well and truly pumping. Perfect high-performance rights, reeling down the point, and some intense heats and brutal battles were the order of the day.
Some of the top performers in this division were Josh Malherbe (11.17 points), Joshua Jefferis (15 points), Joel Folwes (10.67 points) and Luc Lepront with 10.74 points.
The U14 Boys Quarterfinals were also action-packed as the swell continued to roll in. While Kai Stubbs, Loghann Tilsley and Ben Esterhuyse were all busy winning heats at the point, the free surfers were having an absolute blast in the excellent surf pouring through at the beach break.
