At a special presentation function held last week for CHOC, Urban Run event organiser Michael Zoetmulder of Zports announced and handed over the donation to Kleinenberg. “We are honoured to have established such a distinctive event which can make such a difference to so many people. Through the support of all the urban athlete’s, the Urban Run event has helped raise over R200,000 for the children’s organisations in the Metro this year.” added Zoetmulder.
The event also helped raise just over R60,000 for the Coega Door of Hope Children’s Home, R10,000 for the Scouts of Nelson Mandela Bay and just over R6,000 for local Rotary projects. The donation towards CHOC is being used to establishing a CHOC Lodge in Port Elizabeth to house children and families whilst they are undergoing treatments.
