Award-winning author, renowned screenplay writer and founder of Baby Rhino Rescue, Helena Kriel, will be talking about her latest book, The Year of Facing Fire, on 21 March at iNsingizi Lodge & Spa.
Introducing a tale within a tale, The Year of Facing Fire, is a memoir which follows her journey as a writer (for the hit movie, Kama Sutra) and her family’s struggle when her beloved Brother, Evan, is diagnosed with HIV/Aids.
Kriel, who is based in South Africa but frequently travels to Los Angeles to lecture in the MFA Writing Programme at Spalding University, has been nominated for playwright of the year, written extensively for television and won the Steven Spielberg Diane Thomas Award for her first screenplay, Virtuouso, which led to her success as an A-list writer in Hollywood. She is also passionate about animals and is the founder and president of Baby Rhino Rescue, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to saving rhinos from extinction.
