This past weekend, motoring enthusiasts gathered at the annual Killarney Motor Show for another exhilarating event, immersing themselves in the unmistakable aroma of petrol, the symphony of screeching tyres, and a visual feast of everything motorised, from sleek classics to Mad Max replicas.
Motul, the celebrated name in superior automotive and motorcycling lubricants, showcased their partnerships and the precision of their products, by embracing a Le Mans theme. The brand referenced the centennial celebrations of the legendary endurance event on their stand with a workshop and pit setting, featuring the Le Mans spec Nova Proto NP02 and the Rico Barlow Racing truck. Visitors to the stand had the opportunity to explore the same high-performance setup used by top-tier racing teams.
As part of Motul’s partnership showcase, the Stoos Customs motorcycles were a huge hit thanks to their exquisite crafting and customisation. Motorcycle owners looking to achieve the same gleam and shine displayed by the Stoos selection could pick up valuable cleaning and maintenance tips from the Stoos Customs crew.
Other engaging activities on the stand included games and races for young and old, all for a chance to win coveted Motul merchandise. A significant hit was the Motul Mixing Lab, a novel experience launched at the event, where registered guests had the opportunity to learn about the distinctions between synthetic and mineral base oils, the remaining components of a lubricant formulation, and the fact that not all motor oils are created equal.
Mercia Jansen, Head of Motul Southern Africa, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Motul’s presence at the Killarney Motor Show for the second year running provided a remarkable platform to showcase the power and performance that our products deliver. Our stand was a beautifully executed dream, pulled together by our team and designed to draw visitors into our world and show them how the passion and precision that goes into motorsports is present in every Motul product. We really enjoyed having the chance to reassert our commitment to the region.”
Motul was honoured to receive the award for Best Stand – a testament to their outstanding presentation and engagement at the event. This accolade underscored the brand’s dedication and support of the automotive and motorcycling industries.
Rene Rall, who experienced the thrill of the XS Promotions Motul drift car, expressed her gratitude to Motul for what she described as an “electrifying experience”, with the speed of the vehicle being the kind of thrill that motorsport enthusiasts live for.
The Rally Cross was also a massive crowd-pleaser, with daring thrill-seekers strapping into the passenger seat of the Wentzel Motor Works Motul BMW E36 for a heart-pounding experience. The excitement was palpable, leaving attendees thoroughly entertained.
Juan Wentzel, Motul’s representative in the Western Cape, commented, “This was a very successful day for us! Our partners and our team went above and beyond to entertain and educate the visitors at the Killarney Motor Show, and we had the opportunity to engage with true enthusiasts in a meaningful way. It was wonderful to see smiles from the youngest to the oldest and from the mechanically-minded to the adrenaline-seekers; all petrolheads found something to enjoy at our various activities. Thank you to the organisers at Killarney Raceway for their tireless efforts in bringing this event together and giving spectators a fun day out.”
