New urban and street culture marketing conference breaks down barriers.

(MyPR.co.za) September 1, 2014 By //  by Guest PR Filed Under: Media Edit This Article

Brands are looking for ways to build cultural relevance and currency. Culture creators are looking for ways to engage with brands and build cultural industry.

In November, Johannesburg will host Engagement Now, the Brand x Culture conference – a comprehensive, fully inclusive conference that brings together brands and culture creators in 2-days of engagement, discussion, debate and learning.

Taking place at the Alex Theatre in Braamfontein from the 5 – 7 November, the Conference will be a forum to explore brand and culture collaboration opportunities. Says Engagement Now curator and co-founder Hardy McQueen: “we developed Brand X Culture as a way to address the serious need for a formalized and informative platform that would bridge the gap between brands and the cultural industry.”

Brand x Culture aims to define the shifting roles and responsibilities within the industries and identify collaboration opportunities that exist between brands and the cultural industry. The Conference is aimed at brands, their custodians and cultural industry practitioners and, in essence, is both an industry conference and a powerful networking platform.

The international and local speakers have been selected for both their experience and their willingness to push boundaries and successfully operate in a shifting environment. The conference topics have been chosen for their current relevance and the speakers will be focusing on showcasing the lessons and learnings from both an international and local perspective. The speaker line-up will be announced in September 2014.

“The world is getting smaller daily, and it is essential for brands to be globally relevant even when it comes to hyper-local activities. South Africa and the rest of the African continent have long been disconnected from the global conversation concerning culture and its true value. It’s time for that to change,” says Joey Khuvutlu Engagement Now hype-man and co-founder. “In order for that to happen, brands and cultural players both need to be relevant, engage authentically and create real value in the market place. This conference will get them all around a table and in front of major international experts,” he adds.

Tickets for the conference are available at http://engagementnow.evolero.com/registration/start and cost R3,785 per person for full access and R1,785 for access to everything aside from Main Stage talks. There is an early bird discount offer, which is R3,217.25 and R1,428.00 respectively for tickets purchased by 15 September. The conference is online at www.engagementnow.co.za, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/engagementnow, on LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com/company/engagement-now or on Twitter via @Engagement_Now.
