SAWIP HONOURS JUSTICE DIKGANG MOSENEKE AT 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
In celebrating 10 years of development and support to a diverse community of emerging South African leaders, SAWIP will honor Justice Dikgang Moseneke with a Leadership and Service Award.
Johannesburg: On 1 November 2017 at the Johannesburg Country Club, the South Africa-Washington International Program (SAWIP) will honour Justice Dikgang Moseneke for his outstanding leadership and commitment to a just South Africa for all. Justice Moseneke’s remarkable career has been framed by his deep regard for our constitution, which he was part of drafting. He has left an indelible mark on our society through his impact on land restitution and the fight against corruption, among many examples. Now retired, he is currently leading the alternative dispute process that seeks justice for those affected by the Life Esidimeni tragedy. Hailed as a brilliant, imaginative and independent thinker, Justice Moseneke embodies SAWIP’s foundational principle of servant leadership.
SAWIP is honoured to have the privilege of adding Justice Moseneke to our list of Leadership and Service Award recipients. Advocate George Bizos (2012), Dr John Kani (2013), Advocate Thuli Madonsela (2014), Dr Imtiaz Sooliman (2015) and Ms Wendy Luhabe (2016) received this award for their commitment to South Africa’s development.
SAWIP holds a vision of a South Africa with quality, servant leaders and active citizens who, with humility and integrity, are dedicated to achieving social and economic justice, strength and unity in diversity and the deepening of democracy. In addition to the awards ceremony, the event will celebrate the organisation’s growth and successes over the last ten years, while sharing a vision for the future focused on a larger community impact and great emphasis on the development of thought leaders committed to service, active citizenship and deepening South Africa’s democracy. SAWIP’s mission is to inspire, develop and support a new generation of South African leaders to bring about social and economic transformation and justice within a sustainable democracy.
