Bedfordview, South Africa – Feb 2025– Accomplished entrepreneur, businesswoman, and philanthropist, local Bedfordview resident, Talitha Oosthuizen has been officially announced as a Mrs. South Africa 2025 Semi-Finalist, marking an exciting milestone in her journey of empowerment, leadership, and social impact.
She embarked on this journey of entering Mrs South Africa with a deep sense of purpose: to be a voice for children who are silenced, afraid, or physically unable to speak for themselves. She always felt a responsibility to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Through her work as an ambassador for human trafficking awareness, particularly with the incredible organization Shattering Shackles, She is committed to shedding light on the devastating realities of trafficking and exploitation. Shattering Shackles works tirelessly to address this critical issue, and their efforts are truly life changing. Support for their mission is essential by spreading this message far and wide, ensuring that more people understand the urgency of this cause and join the fight to protect the vulnerable.
“Human trafficking is a devastating reality that affects countless lives, and we must take collective action to end it,” says Talitha. “Shattering Shackles is making a tangible difference, and with greater awareness, we can expand our reach and impact.”
Empowering Communities Through the Bush Whisper Foundation
In addition to her anti-trafficking advocacy, Talitha serves as the patron of the Bush Whisper Foundation, where she plays an instrumental role in programs that equip individuals with vital skills for a sustainable future. The foundation provides internships in sewing, tourism, marketing, and logistics—creating opportunities for youth to gain hands-on experience and build confidence. Furthermore, it supports Greentrax K9, an anti-poaching unit dedicated to protecting Mpumalanga’s endangered wildlife. “Empowerment begins with opportunity,” Talitha states. “When we provide people with the skills to succeed, we are not just changing lives—we are shaping a better future for all.”
Championing the Well-being of Vulnerable Children
Talitha’s compassion extends to children’s outreach, particularly those with disabilities or in need of care. She collaborates with organisations such as Abraham Kriel Children’s Home and Little Gems Residential Care, which provide essential support to children who have been abandoned or face significant challenges. “Every child deserves love, security, and the opportunity to dream,” she affirms. “Through these partnerships, we can create safe spaces where children are nurtured and given the chance to thrive.”
From Personal Battles to Public Advocacy
As a survivor of eating disorders, Talitha understands the power of resilience and transformation. Her personal journey of healing has shaped her mission to inspire others, particularly young people, to believe in their strength and embrace their unique potential. “Overcoming personal struggles has shown me the power of hope,” she shares. “I want to encourage others to see that no matter what they’ve been through, they have the ability to rise, rebuild, and create meaningful change.”
Harnessing the Power of Mrs South Africa
For Talitha, Mrs South Africa is more than a competition—it is a platform that amplifies voices and fosters impactful conversations. “The power of the sash is undeniable; it opens doors and creates opportunities to drive change. But just imagine the transformative impact of the crown,” she says. “Winning this title would not be a personal victory, but a victory for the causes I stand for and the communities I serve.”
With her unwavering dedication, Talitha Oosthuizen is not just vying for a crown—she is igniting a movement of empowerment, advocacy, and change. Through Mrs South Africa, she hopes to inspire individuals, mobilize support, and leave a lasting legacy of hope and transformation.

Mrs South Africa’s candidate list has steadily grown over the past few years, motivating the executive team to further extend their efforts to support the many women who want to participate but might find it difficult to do so.
Joani Jacob, CEO of Mrs South Africa explains, “This year, we wanted to go the extra mile for the wonderful ladies who support us each year, and bring the National Public Casting day as close to them as possible. As such, we decided that Gauteng would be just the first of our live casting events, before we would take the show on the road to Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal.”
Encouraging Talitha Oosthuizen and her fellow contestants to give their all and seize every opportunity that the women’s empowerment programme has to offer, Jacobs adds, “This is your year to step into your power – own your inner strength and let your voice be heard!
“Thousands of women have walked this road before you, and you will never have to walk it alone. Your sisters, mentors, judges, and the Mrs South Africa executive team are here to build you up and help you achieve your best self. All you need to do is be open to the change that’s about to come.”
Shortly after the casting events, semi-finalists participated in their first workshop weekend, where mentors and experts from a variety of fields coached them on public speaking and interview preparation, personal branding and social media use, networking and building relationships with sponsors, and participating in charity and community work. Later in the year, contestants will participate in a number of charity events, upskilling sessions, professional shoots, and more, culminating in the grand finale in November.
