Until mid-winter, you can visit the Still Here Tomorrow To High Five You Yesterday exhibition – it explores the different ways in which artists, performers, writers and architects tackle the complexities inherent within the dual concepts of Utopia and progress.

For those locals that enjoy a more interactive experience, you can’t miss doing a Bo-Kaap Cooking Tour this winter. Go on a journey of the life, food and culture of the Cape Malay community in the world-famous Bo-Kaap district. Hosted at Aunty Zainie’s home, you learn the basics in a hands-on cooking lesson and then sit down to a divine group lunch, indulging on a delicious traditional meal.

This winter, Capetonians are also in for a treat as the theatrical production of Kinky Boots comes to town. Inspired by true events, this hit musical has already racked up six Tony and three Olivier awards, including a Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Original Score (Cyndi Lauper). Brought to you by the same creative team behind The Rocky Horror Show, Funny Girl, Cabaret and West Side Story, you will not want to miss this extravaganza at The Fugard Theatre.

Then still one of the most popular destinations on everyone’s ‘must do’ lists is Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay. Having just racked up an award for the best market in Cape Town, it is no surprise that on average 25 000 visitors a month descend on this ever so popular coastal spot. With its live music all weekend and eclectic shopping experience, Bay Harbour Market is definitely the place to meet, connect and unwind. Winter sees the return of the communal fire in the centre of the dining area – and if you thought this space could not get any more magical, you are mistaken.

Sitting in close proximity to the fire and sipping on a glass of red wine, we can’t even begin to recommend what you should be nibbling on – the choice of cuisine is so varied and delicious.
