TheTHIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN is searching for three Development Teams!

“Let Nature Give You A Run For Your Money”

The organisers of South Africa’s premium three-day stage race, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN, are calling on all trail runners to nominate three teams (six runners) that would love to take part in the 2022 edition of the race from Saturday 19 – Monday 21 March 2022.

“We realise that the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race is a bucket list for so many runners, not all of whom are able to afford the entry fee due to budgetary constraints,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Event. “In 2022 we would like to make a dream come true for six runners (that’s three teams) by offering them a complimentary entry into the event. Valued at R9200 per team, the entries include dinner and tented accommodation at the Houw Hoek Hotel (Western Cape). To keep it fair, the runners/teams will be selected through a nomination process.”

“We therefore need the help of the trail running community,” continues Meyer. “The nomination process will run from 14 – 21 February. The three winning teams will be announced on Wednesday 23 February 2022, giving the runners just under a month to train together in preparation for the 2022 event. We are excited to welcome six new runners to the THIRSTI AFRICANX family and can’t wait for these runners to share their experience with us when they finally get to #RunTheAfricanX.”

EVENT INFORMATION: 2022 THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race

Launched in 2009, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race is synonymous with magnificent trails, spectacular views, mouth-watering food, a relaxed atmosphere, great vibe and most importantly, teamwork! Teams of two trail running enthusiasts (male/female/mixed) will be seen battling it out on a route varying in distances each day. Each stage will feature a different route that is guaranteed to keep things challenging, yet exciting while leaving runners in awe.

Stage 1: +- 24 km
Stage 2: +- 32 km
Stage 3: +- 18 km

Entry Fees:
OPTION 1: R3600 per runner
OPTION 2: R4200 per runner
OPTION 3: R4600 per runner

DRESS UP DAY: One of the many highlights of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race is “Dress Up Day” which will be celebrated on the third and final stage, on Monday 21 March. The rule is very simple, both runners need to wear their outfits for the duration of the stage, from start to finish. There are awesome sponsor prizes up for grabs as well as bragging rights for a year.
