The HYPROP MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience 2024 is approaching its thrilling conclusion, with the announcement of the latest winners and just two more opportunities to qualify for the grand final. The latest round of the 2024 HYPROP MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience took place at Table Bay Mall in Sunningdale, Cape Town, from 9 to 11 August 2024.

Esports has rapidly ascended from niche hobby to global phenomenon, and this year’s tournament is a testament to its explosive growth. Round six of the HYPROP MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience, held at Table Bay Mall in Cape Town, drew crowds of enthusiasts over the Women’s Day weekend, transforming the mall into a competitive arena where digital athletes showcased their talents.

The highlight of the weekend was the intense EAFC tournament, where local heroes clashed in a display of skill and strategy. After a series of gripping matches, the winners emerged:

1st Place: Masoom Fakie
2nd Place: Heero
3rd Place: Julio Bianchi

Masoom Fakie now advances to the national final, where they’ll compete for the ultimate title and a share of the staggering R50,000 prize pool. The energy at Table Bay Mall was palpable, with the event featuring not just EAFC but also adrenaline-fueled GT 7 Races, high-stakes Fortnite battles, and thrilling Fighting Game Face-offs. Minecraft creatives had their moment to shine, while the MTN Beat Saber Challenge offered a taste of the future with its immersive VR experience.

Rian Thompson, General Manager of Table Bay Mall, reflected on the event’s success, saying, “Esports is more than just gaming — it’s a movement that brings people together. This event showcased the incredible talent we have right here in South Africa, and it was inspiring to see so many passionate players come together.”

From 23 to 25 August, Capegate Shopping Centre in the Western Cape will host the next qualifying event, where the region’s best gamers will battle for a coveted spot in the ultimate showdown at Canal Walk from 11 to 15 September.

As the countdown to the grand final begins, anticipation is building for the remaining qualifiers:

Capegate Online Qualifier: 18 August
Capegate Event: 23 to 25 August
Canal Walk Online Qualifier: 1 September
Canal Walk Event (GRAND FINAL): 11 to 15 September
