South Africans just love to celebrate! It is the drumbeat of our DNA to revel in a common cause. Throw in homegrown rhythms and you will find us grooving until dawn. And so it is that South Africa’s much-celebrated band – Watershed are still delighting fans 15 years after their debut single.
The release of their studio album following a 5 year gap, Watch The Rain, has been received with critical acclaim and after the first single spent months in the charts, fans have been waiting in anticipation for the follow-on single just released, The River Song. It offers new sounds featuring the banjo and ukulele – creating powerful country rock feet-stomping beats.
To support the release of their new album, Watershed has performed more than thirty live gigs across the country. This is testament to the band’s staying power and success. 2016 has already been a big year for the group with their invitation to open for the Roxette Tour and performing to more than 35 000 fans countrywide.
“After having worked so hard on this album and wanting to give our fans a musical adventure rather than just a new album, we took a risk by introducing a new direction and genre after having a very recognisable Watershed melody for the last fifteen years,” says Watershed front man, Craig Hinds. “And it’s wonderful to see our fans respond to it and loving it as much as we do. As the second single, The River Song, picks up radio play, even more fans will succumb to this new Watershed vibe and we will see them at our gigs later this month”.
To celebrate the release of their new single, Watch The Rain will be available for download on all digital platforms, including iTunes this week.
Furthermore, in an unprecedented move rarely seen in South Africa, the band wishes to thank their fans for fifteen years of loyal support by giving away an opportunity for a lucky few to win a private gig.
Can you imagine – rolling out a little soiree for friends and family and having Watershed perform live?
