Small-cap share expert and editor of the widely read Red Hot Penny Shares newsletter, Francois Joubert, believes the proposed Zar X stock exchange could reshape share trading in South Africa and provide significant new opportunities for South African small businesses and investors alike.
Says Joubert, “if you were wondering why this has all got me so excited? Well, the founder of Zar X perviously operated the Equity Express OTC platform. A couple of hot small companies traded on this platform with phenomenal results.
Take Assupol for instance, it started the year at 350c and is now worth 664c, up 89%.
Or Lenmed which traded at 127c a year ago and its now worth 300c, up 136%.
And that’s not even mentioning the BEE share market which can give qualified black investors the opportunity to buy into companies like Sasol, Vodacom and Multichoice at deep discounts to what they are really worth, with massive dividends in store for them.
The short and sweet of it is that this could be an incredibly lucrative market to invest in. It will be geared towards everyday investors like you and I, not to large pension funds like the JSE has done.”
According to Francois Joubert, small, listed businesses offer South African investors the biggest opportunities to growth their wealth and portfolios in a short period of time. As such, the creation of new stock exchanges, such as Zar X, should have a positive impact on the South African economy.
