2024 – The Year of More

You are here: Home / Travel / 2024 – The Year of More

(MyPR.co.za) March 3, 2024 By //  by Guest PR Filed Under: Travel Edit This Article

More Holidays, More Experiences, More Magical Moments

If your December break left you scrolling through social media, living vicariously through your friends’ posts of fabulous holidays and yearning for those experiences to be yours, it’s time to make a change. Let this be the year you turn those dreams into reality and embrace the year of more!

According to Samantha Pillay, a Director at ekko, a lifestyle brand for millennials, our focus in 2024 shouldn’t be on accumulating more material possessions this year but instead on accumulating more meaningful experiences. More dinners with loved ones, more weekends filled with adventure, and more holidays that leave magical, lasting memories. Research consistently shows that experiences, more than material goods, contribute to lasting joy. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want more joy in their life?

To help individuals make this their year of more experiences, Pillay shares five strategies that she believes will help you go from being an observer scrolling longingly to becoming the socialite-traveller uploading enthusiastically.

Here’s how:

1. Dream Big

The first step is to dream big. Give your imagination free rein and picture the types of experiences you’ve always wanted. Whether it’s exploring exotic destinations, indulging in unique culinary delights, or engaging in thrilling adventures, jot them down and put them in a spot somewhere you will see them daily. Setting ambitious goals will provide you with clear direction and motivation to make your dreams a reality.

2. Cut Down

Start by evaluating your budget and identifying areas where you can cut down on unnecessary expenses. Perhaps it’s time to reassess subscription services you no longer need, making instead of buying lunch, joining a lift club, or finding more cost-effective alternatives for your daily needs. By tightening your financial belt, you can allocate more resources to the experiences that truly matter to you.

3. Save

Saving money is a crucial step in making your dreams come true. Once you’ve identified areas to cut back on, allocate those savings towards a dedicated “experience fund”. Create a separate savings account or set up a debit order to ensure consistency. Saving for your dream adventure may require discipline, but the sense of accomplishment as your fund grows will fuel your determination to make this the year of more.

4. Spend a Little to Experience a Lot

If your overall goal is to experience more, then consider investing in a lifestyle portfolio like ekko. Being a Member of ekko unlocks next-level living with access to at least one holiday every year, discounted luxury travel including flights and cruises, package tours and car hire. So, not only can you choose from a massive range of local and international hotels and resorts that will turn your dream holiday into a tangible reality, but you can also start enjoying big discounts and cashback on everyday spoils such as restaurants, movies and spa treatments.

5. Start Booking

If you’re a member of ekko, you can start booking your dream holiday straight away. Alternatively, once you’ve reached your desired savings goal, you can book your holiday. Remember, taking the time to research and book early also allows you to snag coveted reservations for popular attractions or events, ensuring a cost-effective and enjoyable travel experience from start to finish.

“Make 2024 your year of more—more adventures, experiences, and memories. Dream big, save wisely, indulge a little, and relish every moment of planning your dream holiday. Remember, the journey is as important as the destination. Embrace challenges, savour wins, and live life to the fullest in 2024,” advises Pillay.
