Africa’s First Golf Trade and Investment Convention to Take Place in Sun City This August

(MyPR.co.za) April 20, 2026 By //  by Guest PR Filed Under: Sports Edit This Article

Africa’s first golf trade and investment convention has officially launched, calling on stakeholders across the tourism, hospitality, and golf sectors to partner in unlocking high-impact opportunities across the continent and beyond.

The African Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) is the continent’s first platform of its kind, designed to connect the global golf tourism ecosystem with Africa’s world-class destinations. The convention aims to unlock high-value travel opportunities while driving sustainable economic growth.

Scheduled to take place from 18 – 21 August 2026 at Sun City Resort in South Africa’s North West Province, the convention will showcase Africa’s growing prominence as a premier golf and leisure destination.

AGTC Founder and Director, Neo Peete, who has spent over a decade planning and hosting golfing events, says: “South Africa is home to some of the most beautiful golf destinations in the world, and they deserve to be showcased globally. What makes Africa unique is the diversity of its offerings, from natural beauty and favourable climate to growing infrastructure. This convention will serve as a platform to connect stakeholders, share insights, and accelerate growth across the value chain.”

Nthabiseng Manonyane from North West Parks and Tourism Board said that they are pleased to host the inaugural AGTC in their province; “This event presents a valuable opportunity to attract visitors, stimulate local economic growth, and showcase our unique attractions. It will drive direct spending in the hospitality sector, create employment opportunities, and elevate the province’s profile encouraging future investment. It also provides an excellent platform to demonstrate the diverse experiences our province has to offer.”

While attending the recent World Travel Market (WTM) in Cape Town, Chairperson of the African Tourism Board, Hon. Cuthbert Ncube, shared his support for AGTC: “I’m always excited when we discuss tourism matters in Africa, and we are particularly pleased to see the strengthening of our relationship with golf tourism. Africa must prioritise developing and promoting its own platforms to ensure that tourism revenue remains within the continent and contributes meaningfully to economic growth.

I am especially encouraged by AGTC, not only because of its vision, but because it is being conceptualised and being brought to life by women, right here in Africa. As the African Tourism Board, we are here to support you and are committed to walking this journey with you. Africa, it is time to unite. Let us come together and support this great initiative.”

The event will feature:

  • Keynote addresses from global and regional industry experts
  • Panel discussions on sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and destination marketing
  • Business-to-business networking sessions
  • Exhibitions from leading golf resorts, tourism boards, and service providers
  • Curated golf experiences

Golf tourism remains one of the fastest-growing segments within global travel, contributing significantly to local economies through high-value visitors, extended stays, and increased spending. Africa’s untapped potential, combined with its rich cultural heritage and world-class golf courses, positions it as a compelling destination for international golf travellers.

The African Golf Tourism Convention is expected to attract delegates from across the globe, creating a dynamic platform for partnerships and investment.

Registration is now open. Interested participants, exhibitors, and sponsors are encouraged to secure their place early by visiting: https://www.agtc.africa/
