Each pair commemorates the iconic 1968 animated film that defined a generation, its powerful message of love transcending time.
Both Happy Socks and The Beatles believe in color and creativity as a medium to spread love and happiness, and this very special collaboration is the product of this shared value. Over the years Happy Socks has also demonstrated its enthusiasm for the music scene by collaborating with artists including Snoop Dogg and Miike Snow, so the chance to join creative forces with The Beatles is an exciting culmination of this passion.
The six unique designs are inspired by the film’s most recognisable characters and scenes, including The Dreadful Flying Glove, Chief Blue Meanie and Jeremy, Pepperland, and the Yellow Submarine itself. The vibrant designs pulse with psychedelic colors, paying tribute to the wildly original film that is as inspiring today as the day it was released. Each pair is available to buy separately, or as part of 3- or 6-pack vinyl-record inspired gift boxes.
Happy Socks Creative Director, Viktor Tell, says: “We’re really happy about the collaboration and collection. It’s also special to me personally as my dad was part of creating the movie back in 1968.”
The Beatles need no introduction. The Liverpudlian rock band is the best-selling band in history, selling over 600 millions records around the world. Formed of four members, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the band has broken practically every record, including holding the most number-one hits on the Hot 100 chart with twenty. The musical fantasy film Yellow Submarine was inspired by their music, and named after their 1966 song of the same name.
The Yellow Submarine Collection will be available from October 3rd, 2017, in Happy Socks Concept Stores, online at HappySocks.com, and at selected retailers including Spree.co.za and Zando.co.za.
