Clariant’s beverage crate recycling affirms commitment to best sustainability practices

Johannesburg, October 12th 2017 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, has been making notable strides in contribution to best sustainability practices. By providing products and solutions for recycling beverage plastic crates made from polymer such as PE-HD (High Density Polyethylene) and PP polypropylene. Clariant contributes significantly to the South African recycling value chain. The initiative also drives awareness on the need to minimize impact on the planet additionally protecting the environment in recycling the non-biodegradable materials.

Via an organized supply chain, the crates are collected all over South Africa. Clariant Masterbatches provides Color and Additive masterbatches that are used to by plastics convertors to make new crates from recycled polymers. The initiative assists local governments with waste management handling. When crates are not recycled, they are considered as waste in this, requiring all waste management treatment that incur costs. Recycling reduces the amount of new polymer usage in turn reducing waste and carbon emissions in production.
