Hytec Hydraulics Botswana opens Service Centre

Hytec Hydraulics Botswana officially opened its Service Centre in Gaborone on 13 June 2019. Hytec Botswana is a dedicated member of the Botswana Chambers of Mines (BCM) and, as such, the official opening was attended by premier mining decision makers and stakeholders.

As the largest manufacturer and supplier of hydraulic, pneumatic and automation components and systems in sub-Saharan Africa, Tillmann Olsen, CEO for Bosch Rexroth South Africa, said the new workshop in Gaborone symbolises the ambition to set the highest standards in all areas of business. He said that Hytec Botswana will be supported by the Rexroth HUBB in Johannesburg where there is a concentration of highly skilled employees. “The HUBB’s training facilities will enhance the knowledge of current and future employees across the continent”, said Olsen.

Charles Siwawa, CEO of the Botswana Chambers of Mines, said that he was looking forward to sharing of product knowledge and expertise to suit local specialisations. “Development and deployment of the right skills within the industry will play a crucial role in the efficient execution of the BCM’s mandate,” he said.

Gerald Handke from Germany, who is the Bosch Rexroth Vice President Service at Mobile Hydraulics shared how Africa’s attractiveness as a mining and minerals market is playing an increasingly important role for Bosch Rexroth. “Africa plays a key role in our global growth strategy,” he said. “Excellent products and excellent service are guarantors of success.” Bosch Rexroth head office in Germany will be supporting the Botswana branch with training, technical support, auditing and certifications.

Officials in attendance at the opening of the Service Centre were: Mr. Abrie van der Merwe (General Manager, Hytec Hydraulics Botswana), Mr. Charles Siwawa (Botswana Chamber of Mines), Prof. Oboetswe Motsamai (University of Botswana), Mr. Gerald Handke (Bosch Rexroth Germany) and Mr. Tillmann Olsen (CEO Bosch Rexroth South Africa).
