The Western Cape leg of the Spur Schools MTB League kicks off at Meerendal Wine Estate outside Durbanville on Saturday, 20 June.
Early indications show that the league will quickly reach its target of 10 000 entries for the 2015 season and with four qualifying events on the calendar for local riders, mountain bike enthusiasts will be mounting their bikes in an effort to make it to the finals at Bekker School in October.
In order to make the league more accessible to riders, the senior (high school) categories have been moved to later time slots allowing for those that participate in mainstream school sports to fulfil their school commitments. Registration for these categories will be open until 14h00.
Online entry forms are downloadable at www.spurmtbleague.co.za and can be faxed to 086 547 7886, e-mailed to michelle@amarider.co.za or handed in at registration on race day from 08h30. A cost of R50 for primary school and R60 for high school categories is payable at registration or via EFT. Banking details can be found on the website.
CATEGORIES / START TIME: Registration opens 08h30 and course practice commences, Sub Nippers (7-8) 09h30, Nipper Boys (9-10) 10h00, Nipper Girls (9-10) 10h05, Sprog Boys (11–12) 10h30, Sprog Girls (11 –12) 10h35, Sub-Junior Boys (13) 11h00, Sub-Junior Girls (13) 11h05, Sub-Junior Boys (14) 12h15, Youth Men B (16) 12h45, Youth Men A (15) 13h20, Girls (14-18) 14h00 and Junior Men (17-18) 14h45.
The Western Cape’s event calendar includes 25 July at Southys Wines in Somerset West, 29 August at Montana High School in Worcester and 12 September at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.
