Tintswalo Safari Lodge Expands its Wellness Offering With New ‘Bush Willow Spa’

You are here: Home / Travel / Tintswalo Safari Lodge Expands its Wellness Offering With New ‘Bush Willow Spa’

(MyPR.co.za) March 5, 2017 By //  by Guest PR Filed Under: Travel Edit This Article

Tintswalo Safari Lodge in the private Manyeleti Game Reserve has launched a brand-new spa, exclusively for guests staying at the lodge. Named ‘Bush Willow Spa’, after its namesake tree that grows in abundance in the reserve, the new wellness facility has been completely rebuilt and presents a haven for those in search of complete relaxation amidst the soothing sounds and invigorating scents of the African wilderness.

The Bush Willow Spa is a luxurious bushveld retreat, with large windows and doorways opening onto a wooden deck, surrounded by nature only. The spa’s philosophy centers around the traditional healing power of trees – and with more than 336 species, including some Baobabs that are estimated to be over 4,000 years old, the Kruger region presents a veritable Garden of Eden. Many trees and shrubs have medicinal properties that have been used for hundreds of years by African communities – and are still being utilised by traditional healers today to treat a variety of disorders. Surrounded by the natural power of trees of the wilderness, spa visitors will walk away from their treatments with mind, body and spirit restored and rejuvenated.

The spa comprises two single treatment rooms – separated by a sliding door, these can also be turned into a dual treatment room for couples. A Hydrobath, located on a wooden deck out in the open bush, makes for a unique spa experience, allowing guests to become one with nature. The two-seater bath offers a wonderfully romantic treatment for couples and is best enjoyed as a signature ‘Hydrotherapy Session’ (R300 per person), or as an added extra for Honeymooners booked in for a spa lunch on the deck. Based on the ancient knowledge that water has healing and cleansing benefits, the jet bath works on stimulating circulation and lymphatic flow, while also helping the body to detox. The 20-minute session is a great addition to any of the spa’s body treatments – especially used in conjunction with African bath salts and essential oils. After their bath, couples may relax on two loungers next to the tub while sipping chilled champagne and taking in the extraordinary scenery.

The range of eco-friendly products used at the spa has been developed by Africology. The South African fair trade brand uses the healing essences of indigenous plants such as the Marula fruit, African Potato and Rooibos, all scented with the heavenly aromas of natural essential oils to calm the senses and offer a truly luxurious pampering experience. Bush Willow’s therapists are of Shangaan descent, from the local community, who have been chosen for their skills and expertise, and receive continuous training from Africology to ensure the very best results.

The new spa offers a further range of relaxing and invigorating signature treatments:

Intonga Stick Massage (60min, R900)
A traditional African deep tissue massage and stress relieving treatment. Skilful movements are performed with the hands and different sized wooden sticks, in combination with a Black Pepper Balm to ease toxin overload, relieve muscle tension and clear the body from daily stress.

Soul of Africa Massage (45min, R650 or 90min, R1100)
This soul-surrendering massage uses African Marula oil blended with Neroli to soften signs of ageing through its anti-stress action. A back scrub is followed by a massage using Marula oil, designed to enhance and restore the body, while easing away stress and tension.

Rooibos & Lavender Clay Body Wrap (60min, R850)
The combination of essential oils will leave the skin feeling smooth and refined while stimulating blood and lymphatic flow. Great for skin conditions such as eczema, rashes, sunburn and swelling.

African Goddess Anti-Ageing Facial (90min, R950)
This facial is a relaxing, pampering treat to restore elasticity, nourish the skin and promise a healthy glow. The de-stressing, anti-ageing African ritual consists of cleansing, exfoliation, massage with Marula oil, mask and moisturising.
