Women’s Walk Kicks off year in Winelands

Put on your pink in support of breast cancer awarness

Don’t miss the very first Pick n Pick n Pay Women’s Walk of 2017, taking place on Saturday, 25 February in the beautful surrounds of Stellenbosch, as part of the Stellenbosch Wine Festvial presented by Pick n Pay.

We’ll be setting off from the Coetzenburg cricket fields at 8am, so dust off those walking shoes, put on your pink, and make a day of it. And not to worry if you’re not super-fit – the fun 5km walk isn’t timed so you can do it at your own pace.

Men and children are invited to join in the fun too – everyone is welcome to sign up and support PinkDrive, an organisation that works tirelessly to provide women around South Africa with breast-cancer with examinations and education. PinkDrive has a station at every walk where they offer free breast examinations, as well as the opportunity to talk to a representative about any breast-related matters.

A walk village will be set up on the Coetzenburg cricket field, which will also be the start and finish points of the walk. Walkers will be treated to a host of fun activities on the day, including great live entertainment. Delicious hot and cold snacks, such as yummy boerie rolls, will be for sale at the Pick n Pay Food stand before and after the walk.

Once the walk is over, it will be time to relax and enjoy the lucky draws. There’s even a ‘best-dressed’ prize, so if you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear your pink feather boa or onesie, this is it!

You can also sample delicious smoothies from our nutrition partner, Futurelife, and take some home too for the family to try. To round off the day, everyone who finishes the walk will be presented with a medal and a bag choc-full of goodies. Sound good? Then make sure you get down to your nearest Pick n Pay and sign up.

Bring your walk number over to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival on either Saturday 25 or Sunday 26 February and only pay R100 (usual price R190) for your festival ticket. Your ticket will include unlimited wine tastings, a tasting glass and cashless card. Children between the ages of 12 – 17 with a race number get free entrance, instead of the usual R60, but do not receive a tasting glass and cashless card (children under 12 get in free).
