Today Eskom implemented rotational load shedding from Tuesday to Thursday saying that they would endeavour to keep the lights on for a 3 hour period between 06h00 and 09h00 daily so as to minimise the disruption to traffic.
Like the frog in the pot of water on the stove the heat (OR in ths case – the cold) just got turned on big time.
Slowly South Africans are being introduced to a future in which a central electricity supplier is unable to fill our needs.
The scramble is now on for alternative power sources to ‘fill in the load shedding gap”.
The easiest and quickest quick fix is via generators BUT generators are also the more expensive and intrusive option over renewable energy.

5KW of solar power will provide an average of 960 units per month which is around R2 400 in electricity savings per month (depending on your local tariff).

- For a residential installation – around 7 years
- For a business – immediately *
